The ornament atop the Noble Fidelity Crown is a latter-day representation of the ancient Lyre, likely the earliest musical instrument fashioned by man and played for musical accompaniment and entertainment.

The noun lyrics, originated characterizing words that were first spoken, and later sung with accompaniment by the Lyre.

Anthropologists make the case that the Lyre is the Mother of all past and present day stringed musical instruments including the Harp, Harpsichord, Piano, Violin, Guitar, Mandolin, Dulcimer, Banjo, Dobro and the like.
